The Grinnigogs play with passion, subtlety and virtuosity – using a wide variety of medieval instruments: Hammer Dulcimer, Hurdy-Gurdy, Bagpipes, Shawms, Percussion, Violin and Cittern – they can perform as soloists, as a duo or as a band with up to seven virtuoso musicians.
The Grinnigogs have a real sense of theatricality and fun and will endeavour to make your event the best occasion possible. Dressed in historical costume, The Grinnigogs aim to take audiences back in time and to bring the music to life, either playing from a fixed spot, or moving around amongst audiences to create real charm and atmosphere.
The Grinnigogs are highly experienced performers and have been playing their music professionally since 1987. They have a wealth of expertise with audiences and a wide and varied repertoire from the sacred to the profane!
The Grinnigogs play music from a wide range of medieval sources including: English, European, Celtic, Middle Eastern and Oriental tunes.
The Grinnigogs have appeared on the BBC’s ‘Songs Of Praise’, ITV’s ‘Emmerdale Farm’ and their music is regularly played on ‘Bargain Hunt.’ Amanda Lowe is widely recognised as the UK’s foremost hammer dulcimer player.
